Nvidia Graphics Cards Question?

They are just to differentiate between the different levels of that particular VGU. I'm not positive on the order but best to least:

Nvidia Graphics Cards Question?

They mean different things for each series of graphics cards that nVidia comes out with. They generally start with "G" and the secondary letters in order of performance usually go S then T then X. They're all pretty much just marketing ploys that make the product sound better however although usually equipped with slightly higher specs.

Nvidia Graphics Cards Question?

both answers are correct but nvidia her come out with some really weird naming schemes lately that don't correspond to the traditional distinctions listed above (case in point 320/640 meg 8800gts which has a g80 chipset and are actually slower than the 512 meg gt which has the g92)

So

To see 'real world' performance of the cards that are of interest, bench them here. the names can be deceptive in some cases. Benching them on games is really the best way to distinguish.

don't get too caught up in the ATI vs Nvidia thing. Both companies produce comparable chipsets. there are some driver differences between models, but on the whole they are generally equivalent in terms of speed and quality (much like intel vs amd) in their respective classes.
