Help putting my graphics card in?

k so i bought a e gforce 8600 gts graphics card and it contains a supplemental power supply. can some1 explain to me how and where i put this supplental power supply, i am completely lost. And also my old graphics card has a wire connected to my motherboard, can i just take that out? a link to anywhere would be great. my computer is an hp media center pc. A step by step guide would be great

They are designed typically to fit into a 5.25-inch drive bay. This is where the CD/DVD/BR/HD drives go.



The incoming power cable then is routed outside of the case through an available card slot on the back on the case of the system. Various component cables then run from the supplemental power supply to your internal PC components.



The wire from your graphics card to your motherboard, check again, are you sure its not connected to your PSU? If it is its because its needs additional power. You can take this out.



When you install your new graphics card check for these sockets on your graphics card and make sure you have power going into them. Your card will not wor otherwise.
