I want a graphics card that's cheap but can run my games on "Very High" settings?

I have an HP (2005) that runs on Windows XP

it has 620 Intel Pentium Processor

1 GB Memory

its current graphics card is "Integrated ATI Radeon XPRESS 200"

I want to run these games on "Very High" Settings or high would be nice too

Battlefieald 2142

Medevial 2 Total War

Star Wars Knights of teh Old Republic

Battle for Middle Earth 2

Do I need a new graphics card, or am I doing something wrong? Because I have to play on "very low" setting otherwise I lad hella.

Your integrated graphics card is your problem. Since it is integrated it takes CPU time from your processor and shares your system RAM, taxing your system heavily during graphics processing.

In order to upgrade you need to ether have an AGP or PCI-E slot, you can find this out by looking up your computer's model number on Google.

If you don't have either of those slots, your simply out of luck. An upgrade would require a new motherboard which isn't a viable solution at this time. You would be wiser to save for a proper gaming PC.

If you have an AGP slot, your options are very limited as this is a outdated technology. You should be able to still find some GeFroce 6000-7000 series cards or Radeon HD series cards for around $100-150. Make sure they are indeed AGP cards before you buy them!

If you have a PCI-E slot there is no sense getting a high end card as it would cause a bottle neck with your current processor and RAM. Also the games you want to play aren't next generation and won't require a card that costs more then $200. Your best bet would be a Radeon HD 3850 or a GeForce 8600GT.

PC Mag is the one to trust on these matters, they wont let you down with any of those cards

The most demanding game in that list is Medieval 2 total war. You will also want to upgrade your ram to 2mb if possible to get the full benefit of that game. Star wars KOTOR and battle for middle earth 2 should run well on most low-end cards.

I would recommend an ATI x1950 pro or x1950xt. That should allow you to play those games on high, but it will cost you about $150. These cards are in the price/value "sweet spot" at the current moment. Remember you need to find out what type of video card port your machine has (AGP or PCI Express) and buy a compatible card. Some cards also require more power, so you may have to upgrade your power supply. Also be prepared to move cables, since these cards can get so big they barely fit inside your box.

Upgrading your processor is a pain and you will be shocked at how little your game experience improves, with the exception of "supreme commander" which is the only game I've seen which actually makes use of a fast processor.

You don't get much at all with integrated graphic cards.

You'll have to specify your budget...because if you want to play the listed game at high or very high, you'll need something like a Nvidia GeForce 7800 card at the minimum.

One very important thing to note...does your HP motherboard have a PCI Express graphics slot. Or does it have AGP?

It's better to have PCI-e for graphics rendering.

A better processor would help as well but a video-card would only raise it to medium to high settings because gaming is not all based on the video-card.

u have enough memory to run any game all u have to do is increase the virtual memory in yr computer, do this click on my computer, view system information, advance, virtual memory settings, advance, change , asign a value from 400 til 2600 this will solve the problem

integrated graphic cards are not meant to play games.so yes you will need another video card.i don't know too much about radeon cards (i prefer nvidia) but you can get a decent video card that will allow you to play your games in medium-high settings in the $100-$250 range.plus it all depends on what game you are trying to play.for instance crysis or flight simulator x you will need a high end video card like the nvidea 8800gt to even play it in high settings with good frame rate.also i would upgrade your processor and ram because most games now will run a lot better if you have at least a dual-core processor and 2GB or ram. hope ths helps!

2 choices here if you want something cheap, and these are only for PC.

1.) Nvidia 8600 GT

2.) Nvidia 8600 GTS

Both these cards can run those games you were talking about on high, just lower the screen resolution to something like 1024*768 or maybe a little higher but not too much. Make sure you have at least 350 watt power supply or more if you want.

I just ordered an XFX 8600 GT XXX edition, and it is so cool, it runs Battlefield 2142 on high, 4x AA, and the screen resolution at 1024*768. It also runs Call of Duty 4 with everything on high and screen resolution at like 1200*1000 something.

Where can i download free latest graphics card preferably ati radeon series for my intel D845GVSR pr

my D845GVSR processor is outdated with graphics control outdated.please suggest me from where can i download freeware full version graphics card for my intel processor so that i can play the latest games in which latest graphics card is needed

Where can i download free latest graphics card preferably ati radeon series for my intel D845GVSR processor?

D845GVSR is a desktop board with Intel Extreme Graphics onboard graphics chipset. You are sure correct that it is outdated. But like the previous guy said exactly, you CANNOT DOWNLOAD A GRAPHICS CARD... its a CARD, physical, you can't download it.

And for your computer, you have no luck, because the motherboard D845GVSR is a micro ATX motherboard (yes, its a motherboard, not a processor. Your processor should be a Pentium 4 or Celeron with FSB 400-533 in socket 478 form factor) does not have a graphics slot (AGP or PCI-Express) and you cannot buy and add a dedicated graphics card in it.

To play the latest games, you should upgrade the whole computer.

Go get an Intel Core2 Duo already!

good luck!

You can't "download" a graphics controller (hardware) - you can download a graphics controller "driver" (software) which is the software that controls/drives the hardware. If you have an integreted graphics controller that's Intel based you need to get the driver either directly from Intel's site (www.intel.com) or possibly your laptop maker has an updated graphics driver. If you actually have an ATI based solution (example X300 or X600 ATI IGP) you would go directly to ATI's site to download it (www.ati.com) - just follow the prompts form the site based on the controller you have. If you don't know exactly what integreted controller you have download Everest Home Edition at ....

Be sure to install and run the application and look for your onboard (IGP) controller to see what it lists there.

I am Graphics Designer When will i get a stable job with good salary ?Tell me plz?

Just keep trying. Make as many contacts as possible. The field you've chosen is unstable. My cousin is a designer in Las Vegas. He was working in Los Angeles, where he was layed off several times as companies always decided to make cut backs.

If stablity is a huge priority, see if the government has any graphic job needs. www.usajobs.gov

Do the graphics on the xbox 360 look good even if you don't have an HDTV?

I have a regular tv do the graphics look like the current generation games

Do the graphics on the xbox 360 look good even if you don't have an HDTV?

Yeah the graphics would still look good as an HDTV would but a regular TV can't transmit all of the game's colors and maximum screen resolution. There will be very unnoticeable squarish edges in the models of the characters, environments, cars, etc. though but it won't really bother your game-play, like I said VERY unnoticeable.

Do the graphics on the xbox 360 look good even if you don't have an HDTV?

They look good on a reg tv but sooo much better on an hd. Lost Planet looks freaking amazing.

Do the graphics on the xbox 360 look good even if you don't have an HDTV?

Yes they do

Do the graphics on the xbox 360 look good even if you don't have an HDTV?

the graphics will look like ps2 or regular xbox graphics i suggest getting a new tv if you have the money

Do the graphics on the xbox 360 look good even if you don't have an HDTV?

Yes, it will look good, better than a regular XBox, but you are going to have to sheel out for HDTV if you want the graphics looking as good as possible.

Do the graphics on the xbox 360 look good even if you don't have an HDTV?

It looks waaay better than PS2/Xbox/GC quality on a regular TV! (I know this because I have them all and no HDTV) I still have trouble noticing the difference between HDTV and regular in the stores mind.

Can't wait till in 10 years when V-HDTV: Very-HDTV; (where u can see the wrinkles of the characters and blemishes in the skin) comes out and then in a further 10 years U-HDTV: Ultra-HDTV; where u can use a microscope on the screen and view all the cells and atoms of the games. :-P

Do the graphics on the xbox 360 look good even if you don't have an HDTV?

yes but not hd good

Do the graphics on the xbox 360 look good even if you don't have an HDTV?

Yes they do. You'd feel the different after you try with HDTV.

So better you dont see the HDTV, it will make you really want to buy it.

Do the graphics on the xbox 360 look good even if you don't have an HDTV?

yes they do

Do the graphics on the xbox 360 look good even if you don't have an HDTV?

YES IT DOES

Put a new graphics card in my pc do i need to plug my lcd monitor in to the agp graphics card slot.?

theres a slot for the monitor to slot in to the graphics card do i plug it into it thank you

Put a new graphics card in my pc do i need to plug my lcd monitor in to the agp graphics card slot.?

Yes!

Uninstall drivers for old card first. Turn off computer and disconnect all wires from back. Install video card in agp slot. Attach monitor cable to the back of AGP card. Attach the rest of the cables and turn it on. Let it boot to windows and install the drivers.

If you get a black screen you may have to attach the monitor cable to the old gfx card on the motherboard and press delete while powering on so you can change the default video in the bios.

Put a new graphics card in my pc do i need to plug my lcd monitor in to the agp graphics card slot.?

The graphics card goes in the AGP slot and the monitor plugs into the graphics card.
