Hi why the Nintendo Wii graphics looks poor on the HDTV?

Hi I use play my Wii on my Standard TV %26amp; the graphics looks "good". Now, I bought a Philips 38''inch HDTV %26amp; with 768P resolution. I also bought the Wii HD Cables Cords %26amp; to support the 480P. When I play my Wii games or Gamecube games, the graphics looks poor %26amp; cheap? Is it how it suppost to be? Thanks you! :)

P.S. My HDTV it could support to 480i,480P,768P %26amp; 1080i resolution. Just to let you know. :)

The Wii isn't wanted for the Graphics... Most of the games are Anime or such things. They aren't ment for their graphics.

I've read that the Wii isn't really supposted to be played in HD because the graphics aren't in HD. Because your TV is HD and your Wii and Gamecube are both not HD it might be the reason as to why the graphics may look less "good" than they look on your SDTV.

The 480p only offers a slight improvement. It should look a little better than regular TV, but it's not much.

The Wii doesn't support HD, so it will never look as good as the PS3 or 360.

i have a wii and a hdtv, however, i personally have not encountered this problem. it may be that it was not set up right, or the settings for the tv does not suit the tv. Are the cables plugged in tightly? it is also possible that the tv is attempting to automaticly enlarge the picture on the wii- stretching the image.

now that im thinking about it, i think it happened to me once. i just unplugged the connecting cables , checked that they r in the right slots, and re-plugged them.

buy component cables for it, it will help a little, but the wii doesnt output hd resoultions so it will just be upscalled.

It depends on how you have it hooked up. Maybe your TV is trying to upscale the Wii's display to 1080p, which might cause it to look bad.

When using a high resolution, unfortunately all the shortcomings are blown up and look more obvious than ever.

Check wal-mart's electronic's site on HDTV's and check out the HDTV buying guide on the far left hand side on the bottom, and it gives you an outright explanation on what you maybe encountering. I would hate for you to spend money and time on something that could be so simple. Good luck!!

I think it has something to do with your picture presets.

The Wii only outputs 480p, which is technically EDTV not HDTV. It's going to appear "better" on regular TV because the extra detail just isn't there. Your HDTV is going to upscale any resolution to it's native resolution (in this case probably 720p) and this will introduce artifacts and maybe a little "grainy-ness". Just make sure you change the video settings to output 480p and that should be all you can do. It's never going to look like the 360 or PS3.

P.S. It's 720p not 768p.

Also, make sure to go into settings on your console and set the video to the higher resolution. You have everything else right, just tell the unit to be prettier!

Yeah. As stated, the Wii only supports resolutions up to 480p, which is an improvement over the 480i, but it still looks inferior to 780p and above systems. The wii is made for gameplay, not graphics.

Your TV is upscaling it, and probably does a crappy job (most HDTVs do a crappy job of upscaling).
